The midwife arrived at about 2:20pm, she was pleased to see Jess in the pool and seemed a little surprised at what stage she was at, wasn't long before she was calling for re-enforcements! By 2:50 we had two midwives on hand neither really playing an active role as Jess went through her hypnobirthing motions.  At five minutes past three we saw our little girl floating through the water and straight in to Jess's arms, just as if she knew exactly where she was going...
 
So you see, nothing to it really, a pool and a few deep breaths and there you have it... who said you can't breath a baby out!

Thomas was about a week old in the photos and as you can see, he is absolutely loving the experience of paddling around in the pool with his dad.  

Many thanks again for all your excellent support and advice – the service you provide has been extraordinary.  As you said, the pool proved to be an excellent way of relaxing  in the last few weeks before the birth and it was so lovely to get into the warm water and be relieved of some of the weight I was carrying.  Whilst I’m slightly disappointed that I didn’t achieve the water birth I’d planned, I’m just so glad that I managed to stay at home in the tranquillity of my own house with the comfort that the pool offered me right up until I was 9cm dilated and we realised the baby was stuck and I was forced to transfer in to hospital.  I wouldn’t have done it any differently.

Being induced and then having a C-section meant the birth of our daughter was far from what we had planned. The Aqua Birthing pool was well used before for relaxation and we all used it after the birth which was fantastic especially on my wifes wounds.
